OUR CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS MINDSWe all have a small voice inside our head talking to us all the time. You probably just heard it say, “What small voice?” Every one of us is the result of what that little voice has been saying to us over the years. We are either the victim of, or the benefactor of those words.Tom Monahan was a very productive member of my sales staff a few years ago. During one of our Monday morning meetings, I asked Tom for the name of the prospect he was just describing, and his response was, “I don’t remember. I can never remember names.” I asked Tom if he thought it would help in his career if he could actually be better at remembering the names of people he meets. He responded and said, “Sure, but I just can’t remember names.”I then gave him the first tip. I said, “Stop saying that you can’t remember names.” Psychologists tell us that we have both a conscious and subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is the world’s most powerful computer. It does exactly what it is told. No more, and no less. Our conscious mind acts as the computer programmer, giving instructions to the computer, our subconscious mind. Tom’s programmer, his conscious mind, was programming his computer, the subconscious mind, to forget any name he hears, because he “can’t remember names”. His subconscious mind accepted that command without question.AFFIRMATIONSAffirmations are statements we make that we believe to be true, and they affect our behavior. For years Tom repeated his affirmation, “I can’t remember names”, so that now his subconscious mind paid no attention to names he heard. My strategy for Tom was to change his affirmation from negative to positive. For affirmations to have the most positive effect, they must include the “Three Ps”,• Positive – If Tom’s affirmation was phrased as, “I will stop forgetting names”, the affirmation is simply a reminder to the subconscious about his long history of forgetting names. It must be phrased as a positive.• Present Tense – If the affirmation is, “Someday I will be good at remembering names”, the results will not come, become “someday” never arrives. • Personal – The affirmation must be something that you can accept and believe, not mere words you heard somewhere. In Tom’s case, the affirmation that he decided to use was, • “I’m getting better all the time at remembering names”, which was clearly o Positiveo Present Tenseo Personal. I told him to write that affirmation on 3x5 cards and carry them with him, clip one to the sun visor in his car, on his bathroom mirror, on the alarm clock, and anywhere else he will see it on a daily basis. I told him his results would be guaranteed if he repeated that affirmation at least 25 times in the morning, 25 times at midday, and 25 times in the evening for the 21 days it takes to form a new habit.GOALSOne of the keys to making progress is being able to measure it. My management philosophy has always been, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”, and the clearest way to measure progress is by setting goals. I asked Tom if he would be meeting anyone for the first time in the next week, and he replied, “Sure. I’m in sales. I meet new people every day.” We then set a goal for him to come back the following Monday and give me the name of someone he met, along with a description of them. When asked if he could commit to that goal, he replied, “yes”. I then also had him write down the goal on 3x5 cards to carry with him and place them in highly visible locations. The following Monday Tom came into my office with the biggest grin I had ever seen. I asked if he met his goal. He said, “I have the names of FOUR people I met, and I can describe all of them in detail”. He then said, “You know, I really AM getting better at remembering names.” Tom no longer had a problem with names.CONCLUSIONWhat instructions has your inner programmer been giving to YOUR subconscious mind? How often is it saying, “can’t” or “won’t”? Make the decision today to turn your life in a more positive direction.Resolve today to create some new affirmations for yourself, with the 3 Ps: Personal, Present Tense and Positive. Set goals to measure your progress, and begin a new, more positive, stress-free life.Remember the old saying, “If you think you can, or you think you cannot, you are absolutely right!”
The first attribute of a successful selling strategy is a website that provides information about the products and the service they are providing. The advantage of that is we can sell those products and services online. Selling is a talent to be cultivated. It requires a lot of understanding to find what the customer is looking for and then fulfilling his needs. It is very important to get the complete attention of reader. The content of the message should be to make the reader think. This can be achieved by using power words, along with color and visuals. Once the attention is grabbed, it should be retained till the end of the message. The customer should be prompted to take some action and their involvement should be sought. They can be made to sign up for newsletters or can be made to take the survey by visiting the company’s website. The consumer should be convinced to buy the product. All the features of the company should be specified, with the more relevant ones on the top. They should be explained logically through these points how the products will fulfill their needs or solve their problems. It does only by convincing the customer about this will motivate them to buy the product. They should be made to understand what wonders the product can do to him. Strong emotional words should be included in the sentence. The customer should either fear the loss of the product if he doesn’t buy it in time, or he should be given the greed of the advantages the product can provide. These reasons will create an emotional impulse and will make them think that they have no other option to buy it. They will have a logical reason to make the purchase. The emotions of the buyer should be manipulated with words. Something like ‘limited edition’ or ‘limited period offer’ will create a sense of urgency. The customer thinks that he should get this product somehow. It’s nice to have sales often, especially to clear out old inventory in the name of some offer. The products which have an obvious damage should be sold out at a special price. But the damage should be mentioned to the customer. If it’s not mentioned, the first time the customer will be tricked into buying something, but he will loose trust and won’t come back again. Always hold seasonal sales and offers. Since all the competitors will be giving out different offers to attract customers, it’s a good point to have one, too, but remember not to imitate anyone. Only a unique offer will make the customers not go to the competitors’. Once in a while offer free shipping this also works. A condition like if a customer spends particular amount of money, all items will be shipped for free. This is another attractive deal which will surely tempt the customer. Thanks to search engines and online stores anything can be purchased from the comfort of the home. Give away free sample to the customers or keep a pre-sale price for introductory products. The customers won’t think twice to spend a little money to try something new. The ending of the sales message is where most people mess it up. The whole efforts will be wasted if the customer gets a second thought. He should be convinced, by nice words, to buy the product till the very end. The content should be arranged with care. The key is to tell the customer what to do exactly after he finishes reading the matter, like ‘Grab the golden opportunity now’ or ‘pick up the phone and dial the number right now’, etc. Do not include links or short advertisement of other products or services. This will shift the focus of the reader and he might have a second thought. A list of the existing customers should be maintained and from time to time special offers should be mailed to them. So basically the whole idea is to influence the mind of the customer until he buys a product.Want more selling strategies?? Click HERE
The American Dream is, was, and always will be, to come up with an idea, start a business and become rich from your own efforts. Based upon this motivation, thousands of businesses fail each year, due primarily to not being familiar with the basics involved in running a business. This report will enlighten you, and give you a number of suggestions you can use to better guarantee your chances for success. This report is written with the warning that any and every business venture contains certain inherent risks, and any number of alternatives. We do not espouse that any one way is the right way or that our suggestions are the only way. On the contrary, we advise that before investing any money in a business venture, you seek counseling and help from a qualified accountant and/or attorney.Just about the first thing you should consider before deciding to start or purchase a business is the legal form you'll be operating under. There are basically four choices: sole proprietorship, partnership, limited partnership, and/or corporation. Each has a number of advantages and disadvantages. We'll try to enumerate some of them for you.As much as anything else, for many people starting a business is a form of ego gratification, and they form a corporation for some sort of prestige gain - just to say, "I own a corporation." With just a little bit of observation, you'll find that one of the major causes of business failures is due to the founder wasting start-up capital on frills, such as an impressive store-front office, expensive furnishings, and corporate legalcosts. One of the basic traits you must develop if you're going to be successful in business, is a tight hold on your expenditures. In fact, a good rule of thumb is that anything that does not make money for you or protect your investment, should not be purchased at this time. Very definitely, this applies to the expense of setting up your own corporation. Unless you have a partnership and start your business as such, the only real advantage to forming a corporation would appear to be that a corporate structure will semi-protect the property you personally own.As an example, you own a home and car. You form a corporation to protect these possessions from business losses. Yet, if you can be found guilty of misusing corporate funds, your business creditors can pierce the corporate shield and come after your possessions. Basically, if you invest everything you have in your business, as most newcomers do, you don't usually need a corporation because you have nothing to protect. Your household possessions, personal belongings, generally your car, and even a portion of the equity in your home is protected by the homestead provision of the Federal Bankruptcy Act, and cannot be taken away from you.As a sole proprietor or partner of a business you'll be paying taxes on your overall earnings, much the same as if you were holding down a salaried or hourly paid job. Whether you do or don't take out money as a salary will have no bearing on the earnings of your business and tax return. The often advertised advantage of incorporating, that you can manipulate your salary in order to save on tax dollars, is real because of corporation laws. However, the IRS frowns on this practice. When your business is successful and making a lot of money, definitely check with your accountant on the advantages of incorporating. As a corporation, you'll be subject to a number of other drawbacks as well: generally higher state taxes, stricter laws concerning the operation of your business, more elaborate accounting procedures, and legal papers that are required just about every time you make a major move or sign almost any contract. Thus, your legal and accounting fees will be much higher as a corporation than will those required for a sole proprietorship type of business.Looking for an opportunity to start a successful home business??
